Roadtrip to Besseggen

Hey All,

Last weekend I went with 2 friends on a roadtrip to hike over Besseggen. This is about a 4 hour drive Northwest of Oslo and one of the more known hikes of Norway.

On the road to the campsite (Besseggen Fjellpark, Maurvangen) there were already some spectactular views and some thunder in the mountains. So we were crossing our fingers that the weather near Besseggen was good the day after for the hike.

After a night of not sleeping as much as we would have liked (there were some grazing sheep with bells around their neck next to our tents during the night) the weather was perfect and the hike could start after packing up the tents and driving toward the boat to Memurubu.

Once in Memurubu we had breakfast and the hike could really start. The hike itself is not very long (only 13-14 km), but with some steep parts on the trail. The good thing is that during the entire hike you can see Lake Gende (really nice turquoise lake) and at some point you can see both lake Gende and lake Bessvatn (deep blue color and said to be the cleanest lake in Norway). Enjoy some of the pictures I took along the way!

After the 8.5 hour hike we went back to Oslo, but not before we had a very well deserved dinner 😊.

Cheers,
Paul
