Roadtrip Norway 2021 – Part 1

Hi All,

This year it was time for another roadtrip through Norway. This time it was not the south or the North, but west of Oslo (mostly). The original plan was to go to Bergen and Ålesund and go diving. But due to the fact that I am not able to dive in a dry-suit, I wasn’t able to dive in the Norwegian fjords, because they were afraid for hypothermia. Therefore all my plans went overboard and my plan changed to “I have rented a car, I have a tent and I know which direction I want to start driving and that is west” 🤣.

Day 1 (Oslo – Geilo):
Nothing really happened on this day, except that I drove 1.5 hours from Oslo, just to remember that I forgot my hiking boots, so I needed to go back home and back towards Geilo again 😅. On the way to Geilo I also bought the final things needed for the trip, like a gas canister to cook. This day I didn’t take too many pictures, due to 2 reasons. 1) Most of this part of the trip I had seen before and 2) it started raining as soon as I got in the car and it never stopped.

Good thing about a rainy day, a full rainbow

Day 2: (Geilo – Aurland):
This day started with a hike near Geilo and starts at “Tuftebrui”

After that hike in the rain (as you can see from the nice raindrops on the lens of my camera 😅). I went on my way towards Flåm. On the way there was another short hike towards Hivjufossen, although due to rain, no pictures taken of the waterfall. The only decent picture I have from this hike was of the watchfull eyes of sheep on the way.

Sometimes you’re being watched while hiking

After the hike it was time to find a spot to have lunch, this time it was indoors where it was dry and warm in the Storestølen Fjellstue, which was a nice place to have lunch with a great view.

The last trip for me was to go near the Stegastein Viewpoint and ended up going to Aurland, which is in the valley seen from Stegastein Viewpoint. Here are some pictures from the way there and from the viewpoint itself.

That was all for part 1, continue to part 2

Cheers,
Paul.
