Hi All,
In case you missed part 3.
Days 7 – 10 were all spend in the area of the Jostedal glacier. Day 7 was a hike to the Flatbreenhytta, day 8 was a relaxing day where nothing really happened, day 9 was kayaking towards a glacier and hiking on a glacier, day 10 was driving to the north of the glacier park, which is the more touristic area (at least looking at the amount of campsites).

Day 7 (Hike up to Flatbrehytta):
Day 7 was all about 1 hike, which was to hike up to the Flatbrehytta. It’s not a very long hike with 7.7 km, but it has a 1 km elevation gain (and then down again). While hiking up you can see the glacier from up close and of course, looking the other way, you have an excellent view to the fjord. If you are ever in the area in the summer, it is definitely a recommended hike!

Day 9 (Stryggevatnet & Jostedal glacier):
After waiting and hoping I could do an active hike on the glacier, but them unable to fill up the minimum amount of places, I went with ICETROLL instead and took the Kayak and walking on the glacier. It’s a full day worth of kayaking from a dam towards the glacier, then after some photo opportunities we had lunch just in front of the glacier. After lunch we had a short safety briefing and equipment training (harness & crampons) and went for relaxing stroll on the glacier, where it was surprising to learn that the black ‘soot’ on the glacier was actually from a vulcano outburst in Iceland 😮. After this stroll with a lot of photo opportunities we went back to the kayaks and went back to the dam. Where of course I had to finish with a dive and short swim in the water 😅. All in all a very relaxing day where I’ve met some pretty cool people 😊!

Day 10 (Fjærland – Stryn):
Today it was back in the car and driving slowly around the glacier from the south towards the north, which is the more touristic area. Although that definitely doesn’t say that the views from the road are bad at all! Most places where you can stop are worth stopping and making a photo. So whenever there is a place where you can get coffee (which is surprisingly hard during this entire trip, especially before lunchtime 🤔) it was a good time to stop and enjoy a coffee with a view.

Really enjoyed having lunch here with a swim afterwards 😊.

All in all it was a really great time in this area of Norway, but I would definitely would like to go back here for at least 3 things. The Loen Via Ferrata, an active hike on the glacier (with some climbing), and a hike from Loen til Skålabu.
That was all for part 4 , continue to part 5
Cheers,
Paul
