Roadtrip Norway 2021 – Part 6 (last part)

Hi All,
In case you missed part 5.

Day 13 started with driving the first part of the Geiranger-Trollstigen route towards Geiranger and ending with a short hike through the rain with some nice views. Day 14 I continued on the Geiranger – Trollstigen route, but mostly in a RIB on the Geirangerfjord and hiking up Geitfonnegga with some spectacular views. Day 15 I spend a lot of time in my car to get somewhat closer to Oslo again to be able to drive home on day 16. Day 16 was thus driving back home.

Day 13 (Skjåk – Geiranger):
Directly in the beginning of the Geiranger-Trollstigen route is the road to Dalsnibba, which has a great view over the road ahaid. I needed to have a coffee there to wait long enough to not be in the clouds and unable to see anything, but it was definitely worth the wait to get the pictures I needed.

Then the road to Geiranger continued and gives some pretty iconic photos as the one below.

The hike to Løsta started at the Westerås Restaurant and after the pretty rainy/wet hike I decided to have a proper dinner there, and I can definitely recommend that restaurant if you’re in the area!

Day 14 (Geiranger – Sylte):
This day started spending about 1 hour in a RIB on the fjord. Due to the extremely dry summer, there were a lot of waterfalls that were not very spectacular, like the 7 sisters, only had 6 at this moment 😔. Nonetheless it was great learning some more information on the history and the way of life on that fjord!

After a nice drive, road could be seen on the last picture of yesterday to the parking lot to start the next hike to Geitfonnegga, which is a fairly irritating hike on a lot of small rocks, but worth it for the view at the end.

View from the top of Geitfonnegga, definitely worth the hike

At the end of the hike the weather turned and it started to poor down. This evening, my tent was definitely tested whether it was leaking or not, luckily the result was that it remained dry in the tent 😊.

Day 15 (Sylte – Folldal):
This day was a fairly long day in the car, but mostly a very wet day. It was raining the entire day. First stop was at Gudbrandsjuvet and enjoying coffee/baked goods and lunch at the cafe next to it. This waterfall was nice, but I especially loved this cafe, great view of the water, awesome interior (including the toilets) and their baked goods were superb!

Gudbrandsjuvet

Trollstigen is one of the most famous roads in Norway (I think). Defintely a lovedly road, although can only get better with sunshine 😊.

Throughout my trip I’ve seen a lot of “smil(e)” in hairpin turns and other mountain roads, I don’t know who writes this down in the turns, but it is a pretty nice thing!

Lots of hairpin turns on this roadtrip say smile or peace, love it!
Warning, trolls!

Day 16 (Folldal – Home):
The last day of my trip was mostly just a highway ride back home with 1 last nice view from the road!

Thank you all for reading these posts!

Cheers,
Paul
